This Saturday, Nov 7: Food4SA Turkey Collection at H-E-B College Park (10 AM–2 PM)

Neighbors sharing a free community meal at a long table in San Antonio

This Saturday, November 7, 2026 is the first Food4SA Turkey Collection of the season — 10:00 AM–2:00 PM at H-E-B College Park, 7330 N Loop 1604 W, San Antonio, TX 78249. November is Food4SA month at the San Antonio Food Bank, the annual drive that stocks the holiday distributions, and Saturday is the easiest day of the month to take part: buy a turkey or drop off nonperishable food on the spot, and it goes toward a San Antonio family's holiday table. Here is how Saturday works, the two collection days after it, and — if you're the neighbor who needs food this year — where to eat today, Thursday Nov 5.

Saturday, Nov 7: the first Turkey Collection

Food4SA is the San Antonio Food Bank's annual November campaign (Nov 1–30) — schools, churches, businesses and neighbors fill Food4SA bags and run food and fund drives so the Food Bank's warehouse is stocked for the holiday season and the winter beyond it. The Turkey Collection days are the public drop-off days built around one simple item: a frozen turkey for a family that would otherwise go without one.

  • When: Saturday, November 7, 2026, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM — a four-hour window, so don't leave it to the last half hour.
  • Where: H-E-B College Park, 7330 N Loop 1604 W, San Antonio, TX 78249.
  • What to bring: a turkey bought on the spot, or nonperishable food from home — the collection takes both.
  • One honest note: this is a drop-off for givers, not a pickup line. There is no turkey to collect on Saturday — the turkeys collected become the holiday distributions listed on our holiday meals page. If your family needs food, the help further down this page is open today.

Can't make Saturday? Two more collection days

The collection repeats Saturday, November 14 at H-E-B Leon Springs (24165 I-10, Suite 300, San Antonio, TX 78257) and Sunday, November 22 at all area H-E-B Plus! stores. Food4SA bags can also be picked up at the Food Bank itself, and nonperishable drop-offs are accepted at Security Service Federal Credit Union branches all month. The full campaign is in our Food4SA guide.

Next week is Veterans Day — and registration is still the move

Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11. The biggest grocery help that day — Feed the Force: 1,000 free Family Grocery Boxes (up to 50 meals each) for veterans and military families connected to Joint Base San Antonio, drive-thru at Frost Bank Center, Nov 11, 1:00–4:00 PM — requires advance registration, and there is no walk-up line. Full details are in yesterday's post: register now for a free Veterans Day grocery box. Walk-in restaurant meals for veterans are in our Free Veterans Day Meals guide.
