What's Open on Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov 11): Free Food in San Antonio

Wednesday, November 11, 2026 is Veterans Day — a federal holiday. Banks, post offices, and some pantries close or change hours, but hunger doesn't take the day off, and neither do San Antonio's most reliable meal sites. In our verified directory, 33 places hold regular Wednesday serving hours. Here are the anchors you can plan around — plus how to check the rest before you go.

The every-day anchors (open on Wednesdays, holiday or not)

Faith Kitchen at Haven for Hope (78207) serves three free hot meals every day of the year — breakfast 7:00–8:00 AM, lunch 11:30 AM–12:30 PM, dinner 5:00–6:00 PM, no questions asked (210-220-2100). Communities Under the Bridge serves a hot dinner 6:00–7:00 PM every evening (210-569-4026), and the San Antonio Rescue Mission serves an evening meal nightly.

The honest fine print for a federal holiday

Some programs close on federal holidays, and a few say so in their listings — Presa Community Center's pantry and the RACAP program in the Randolph area both note federal-holiday closures, so plan on those being closed on the 11th. Others may decide closer to the day. On November 11, call before you go — every place above carries its phone number, and a ten-second call beats a wasted trip.

Are you a veteran?

Veterans Day itself brings a separate round of free meals and offers for veterans and military families — those live in our guide to free Veterans Day meals in San Antonio, and our directory includes the Soldiers' Angels military & veteran food distributions year-round.
