Meals on Wheels San Antonio (2026): Free Meals Delivered to Your Door

If getting to a food pantry or senior center isn't possible, Meals on Wheels San Antonio brings free meals directly to the doors of homebound seniors across the city. It's one of the most important free-food programs in San Antonio — and many families don't know it exists until they need it. Here's who qualifies, how to sign up, and what to do while you wait.

Who qualifies

Meals on Wheels San Antonio serves seniors who have difficulty leaving their homes to get food on their own. If you or a loved one is homebound — because of age, disability, or recovery — this program is built for you. Family members, neighbors, and caregivers can start the process on a senior's behalf.

How to sign up

Referrals and sign-ups go through the program's website at mowsatx.org/referral. After you submit a referral, the Client Services Team follows up to confirm eligibility and set up deliveries. New clients who need food immediately can receive emergency shelf-stable meal packages while regular deliveries get arranged — so don't wait until the cupboards are bare to reach out.

What you'll receive

Home-delivered meals designed for seniors' nutrition, brought on a regular schedule. The program also delivers emergency meal packages every December to all recipients ahead of potential winter weather — one less thing to worry about when a cold snap hits.
