Free Summer Meals for Kids in San Antonio (2027)

When school lets out, free meals don't stop. Every summer, schools, parks, libraries, and community centers across San Antonio serve free summer meals to kids and teens 18 and under — no sign-up, no cost, no questions. If you have kids home for the summer, here's how it works.
How summer meals work
Summer meal programs are federally funded, which means they're free for every child 18 and under — no application, no income check, no ID required at open sites. Most sites serve lunch, and many also serve breakfast or a snack. Programs typically run June through early August, weekdays.
Where to find meal sites
- Check back in May. Summer 2027 site lists come out in late spring. We'll link them here and in the directory as soon as they're published.
- Call 2-1-1. Starting in June, the free 2-1-1 helpline can tell you the nearest summer meal site to your home.
- Watch your school district. San Antonio-area school districts announce their summer feeding sites each May — check your district's website or call the front office.
- Look for parks and libraries. Many meal sites operate out of public parks, libraries, and community centers — places your kids may already go.
What to know before you go
- Kids usually eat on-site. Most programs serve meals kids eat right there — think picnic tables, not take-home bags.
- Teens count too. "Kids" means 18 and under, so teenagers are absolutely included.
- Parents eat free at some sites. A few sites also feed accompanying adults — ask when you arrive.
- Schedules shift. Sites sometimes change days or close for holidays like July 4th. When in doubt, call ahead.
Need food for the whole family this summer?
Summer meal sites feed the kids — for everyone else, the year-round network is still there. Food pantries stock family groceries all summer, and hot meal programs serve all ages. One summer, whole family covered.
