Free Community Fridges in San Antonio (2026)

No forms. No lines. No questions. Community fridges — stocked by neighbors, for neighbors — are one of the simplest ways to get free food in San Antonio. Most are open around the clock: take what you need, leave what you can. Here are 9 verified community fridge and pantry locations across the city in 2026.

How community fridges work

Unlike scheduled food distributions, community fridges have no hours and no eligibility checks. Volunteers and neighbors keep them stocked with fresh produce, bread, canned goods, and essentials. If the fridge has food, it's yours — that's the whole idea.

Fridge etiquette

• Take what you need for a few days — leave plenty for the next neighbor.
• Don't leave perishables that have spoiled, and never leave trash.
• Sealed, unexpired food only when donating.

Want to help stock a fridge?

Community fridges run entirely on neighbor donations. Drop off sealed groceries, fresh produce, or hygiene items at any location above — it goes directly to someone nearby within hours. To support the directory that maps them, consider our Keep Free Meals Free campaign (gifts aren't tax-deductible).
